This Bible story podcast for kids tells the story of Jesus, the True Vine. We referenced the following Biblical passages: John 15: 1-17. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages.

This is Jesus who is the Son of God and the Savior of the world. While Jesus was on earth, He healed many people from their sickness and did many miracles like walking on water.

At this time, the Jewish people were celebrating a festival called Passover that had been celebrated since the time of Moses, when God brought His people out of Egypt. Jesus went to Jerusalem to celebrate. Jesus and His disciples were having the Passover meal together. Jesus told them many things of what was to come and the trials they would face.

Then Jesus told his disciples that he is like the true grapevine and God is the gardener. God will cut off any branch that doesn’t produce fruit. He will also prune a branch, so it can produce more fruit. Jesus told his disciples that God had already done this to them because of what Jesus had taught them. Jesus said, “Remain in me and I will remain with you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is cut off from the vine.”

Then he said, “Yes I am the vine and you are the branches.” He told them that if they continued to have a relationship with him, they would produce much fruit. But if they didn’t continue to have a relationship with him, they would wither away. Branches that wither away like that are thrown into the fire. Jesus said that if his disciples remained in him that they would be able to ask anything in Jesus name and it would be given. They would bear much fruit, and this would bring great glory to God.

Then Jesus said that he loved his disciples as God the Father loved him. He told his disciples to remain in his love by obeying his commandments. Then he gave them a new commandment – to love each other in the same way that he loved them. Jesus told his disciples that they were his friends. He said, “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” He told them all this so that they would have great joy!
